Free Indeed

Theos' Grace

Wandering for so long with nowhere to call home. Wandering for years with no one to call family. Born into slavery. Born into fear. Born into the orphanage. Walking down the dark aisle one day, in fear and tears... I saw a light! Shocked because light isn't what we normally see. I had heard how people saw a light one day and were taken away from this horrible place, and I always thought they were lucky.

Facing the light, I didn't know whether to run or scream. But then, I felt different. New emotions emerged: life, love, hope, peace, ownership. What was this light? As I took a step forward, it moved closer too! I eagerly desired to touch it, and I could feel its warmth.

When I got close enough, I couldn't move anymore. The light reflected on my garment, revealing the chains that bound me, the stains on my clothes, and the beings holding the chains. Wanting to step back, a hand stretched out from the light, and a gentle voice whispered, 'Come now, let's reason together. Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.'

What did He mean? What could cleanse me to the point of snow or wool? He replied to my thoughts, 'I have paid in full! You will be set free if only you receive this payment. And whoever the Son of Man sets free is Free Indeed!' Me? Free? From all these chains? I stepped forward, accepting the payment. Instantly, the chains fell, and the beings scattered.

Was this sorcery? 'No!' He replied. 'I paid with my blood; I died just for you. I miss you! I love you!' Tears streamed down my face. Never had those words touched me so deeply. But I was afraid. I felt different, lighter, like my spirit was being replaced. No longer a slave, nor in slavery. Noticing my shock, He smiled and said, 'You see, you have not received a spirit that returns you to slavery nor a spirit that causes fear, so you have nothing to fear. The Spirit you received adopts you and welcomes you into God's own family. Now you can call out to ABBA Father!'

I was speechless. In a few seconds... I was no longer a slave to fear. I was washed by His blood. I stood before someone who died for my sake. I had a family; I had a Father, and I could call Him 'ABBA FATHER.'

I blushed, feeling like a new baby. I AM FREE INDEED.
