Easter - My Redemption

Dragging an innocent man to the courtyard,
They measured their whips like a cruel sport.
They scourged Him as if He were a criminal,
Yet He had committed no crime.

I felt the tension in His muscles,
Saw Him struggle with each breath.
But when He looked up,
I saw differently.
He gazed at me, not with condemnation,
But with eyes filled with love.

In that moment, I realized my position;
I am the criminal, uncaught, yet guilty.
Yet He allowed Himself to be caught,
Just for me.

The final lash, like the rest,
Drew His skin with it, His blood spilled.
Unlike Abel's, His blood didn't seek revenge;
His blood sought mercy.

Dragged to bear the crucifix,
My legs felt rooted to the ground.
And in a moment, He hung on the cross...
In my place.

At His moment of death,
His Father turned from Him to face me,
'He has to pay the price for His bride.'
Yes, My Redemption lies on the cross.

Days after His death and burial,
He stood before me,
I sought to hide, but He held me.
At the cross, He bore my sins;
Now risen, He bears My Redemption.

Oh, what amazing grace!
He saved a wretch like me.
